'Possessed' : Compulsive Hoarding

“The film questions whether hoarding is a symptom of mental illness or a revolt against the material recklessness of consumerism. When does collecting become hoarding and why do possessions exert such an influence on our lives?”

Not easy to watch, this disturbing and powerful film by Martin Hampton introduces us to the lives of four people struggling with compulsive hoarding, with each vignette more uncomfortable that the last.

Martin is an independent documentary filmmaker working in London. The film was made with the help of the Goldsmiths Centre for Visual Anthropology.
