My Philosophy

Over the years, we develop set ways of thinking and behaving, but at some point we may reach a stage where these ways of being are no longer helpful or productive. In therapy, we explore these patterns and develop new ones that are more effective. Together, we work to find a fresh perspective — transforming deeply rooted norms which may be keeping us stuck.

In times of difficulty, speaking to close friends and family is important, but you may feel that there is only so much that they can do. Therapy can offer some of the care, security and refuge that your loved ones provide, but in a structured environment; offering professional help and advice.

My Approach

While my primary training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I work in an integrative way, using methods and techniques from other approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy.

Each person is unique, and for that reason I adapt therapy to individual needs, working collaboratively using humour, creativity, encouragement, and compassion. The therapeutic process is based on understanding and acceptance, and with that in mind I create a space that’s safe and free from judgement — a place where you are free to be yourself.

I provide emotional and practical support, helping you to manage and redefine feelings that, at first, might seem overwhelming. You will also learn new techniques and tools to deal with problems. Ultimately, I hope to build the necessary confidence to enable you to be your own therapist.

Motivation

I’ve always been a person with whom people share their problems, and becoming a therapist was a natural progression from this. Now I can use my experience and training to better do what’s always been intuitive. Bearing witness to my client’s transformation towards a happier, more fulfilling life gives me great faith in the therapeutic process. I feel a great empathy towards other humans, and I am proud to commit, together with my client, to the journey ahead.
